It wasn’t quite Tea at the Ritz …but
At Romsey Methodist church there was plenty of food – sandwiches, cheese
scones, fruit scones, and cake, and more cake – most of which disappeared.
Entertainment between course ranged from stories of the real Ritz, through amusing
poems, and well loved songs, some solos, duets, and singalong songs from
Sunnydays, a local singing group.
Everyone was chatting, smiling and laughing the afternoon away. Donations for
the tea, and a small table of items realised £1,102 for The Honeypot Children’s Charity who
support young carers between the ages of 5 and 12 across much of the southern part of the
country providing respite care at Honeypot house in the New Forest, and outings as well as
family help. They also have a house in Wales and one in Scotland.
Our small group of Methodist Women in the Winchester, Eastleigh and Romsey Circuit have
partnered with them this church year and to date have raised in the region of £4000 for their
work. We’re nearly caked out!
