Last night I asked you to watch this space for more information about where MWiB has been represented over the past few days. This morning I received this photo from Sarah Braisdell, our Heritage and Archives researcher. She and Joyce Powell, convenor of the task group, have just returned from the European Methodist Historical Conference in Ruse, Bulgaria.
The theme of the conference was “Who evangelized Europe? Mission empowered by Methodist Women” and Joyce and Sarah gave a presentation to the conference on our current work. This was well received and Sarah writes that there was lots of response to our British idea of heritage as a tool for mission. Judit Lakatos, the organiser of the conference, also stated that “we have to share our stories and our history in order to keep our faith and mission alive and moving forward.” This echoes the conviction of our own Mission Shaped Heritage Conference, which Sarah and I attended together at Cliff College in July.
I am sure there will be more to share of the conference, once Joyce and Sarah have had time to unpack their suitcases and sort their photos! We thank them for attending on our behalf and representing MWiB on this European stage. Much work went into the preparation for this conference and I am delighted that their effort has been rewarded with such positive recognition.
