Caring: Luke 10 25-37
To care for others, we should show compassion and not give a list of excuses why we can’t help someone in need. We should meet the need and give freely of our time and resources. In the reading the Samaritan gave tender care and sacrificed his own transport to the man who had been attacked. He then ensured that the innkeeper he took him to was given sufficient funds to provide ongoing care. Caring isn’t just saying I’ll pray for you when what is required is some practical help. Sure, we can pray for the situation, but we must be prepared to act when and where necessary. Jesus instructed us “To go and do likewise”.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father we come to you thanking you that you care for each one of us. We thank you that there are Samaritans in our world, who give of their time and resources to help those in need. Help each one of us to be aware of the needs of others and to show compassion and do likewise. Amen
