Birds: Psalm 104 v 12
The Merlin bird song App has been a source of pleasure and enjoyment since being introduced to it a while ago. I often take time to go ‘up the road’ to listen to the birds in an area close to my home where there is open field, a wooded area and a stream. On one visit recently I heard 41 different species in the space of a couple of hours. This included Peregrine Falcon, which has a nest in my home town Anglican church, the Osprey, which nests at Rutland Water and other more frequent ‘regulars’. I find the time I spend in this pastime I’m nearer to God in the quiet surroundings and I gain inspiration to learn more.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus I thank you for times to be quiet and contemplate in our busy lives. I thank you for being able to make time to listen to the birds and nature near my home and finding myself closer to your presence in the calmness. May each one of us have such opportunities to make time to be closer to you in whatever ways we can.
