Courage: Romans 15 5 – 7
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.
Reflection: StF 634
Fight the good fight with all your might; Christ is your strength and Christ your right; lay hold on life and it shall be your joy and crown eternally.
Run the straight race through God’s good grace, lift up your eyes and seek his face; life with its way before you lies; Christ is the path and Christ the prize.
Cast care aside; upon your guide lean, and his mercy will provide; lean, and the trusting soul shall prove Christ is its life and Christ its love.
Faint not nor fear, his arm is near; he changes not and you are dear; only believe and prove it true that Christ is all in all to you.
To me this hymn outlines that if we put our needs in Christ’s hands, he will give us the courage to deal with whatever life throws in our direction, confirming that he is always near and his consistency endures.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we come to you thanking you that you save us from our sins and mistakes in life. Give each one of us the courage to face these with your love and accept your saving grace given freely. We thank you for your unfailing love and help us to serve you as you deserve, to fight and not to count the cost, knowing that we do your will. Amen
